When I was in New Jersey and missing you all so, I received an email from a lovely woman at Made.com. She had read my blog post on The British Invasion and loved it. As a result she asked that I take a look at Made.com (a U.K. retailer) in hopes that I would review their products on Design Pretty Blog. You know me, always up for some online perusing; I quickly clicked on the link to see what this site was all about. Not only did I fall head over teakettle with their products, but also I really fell in love with their commitment to using young designers. So at my urging they agreed to sponsor a giveaway to all of my U.K readers. (No need to fret, I have something coming up for my U.S. readers next week) This prize is quite fitting as the Olympics are almost upon us.
How do I enter, you ask? Here’s how. 1. Subscribe to Design Pretty Blog
2. If you are already a follower get another entry by referring a new subscriber to Design Pretty Blog and ask them to put your name on their entry.
3. Tell me where in your home you would use the Union Jack bean bag. Enter this information where it says “Leave a reply”.
4. Tweet about this giveaway with a link to this blog post and Like Design Pretty on Facebook for additional entries. Just remember to “Leave a reply” for each entry.
You have up to four opportunities to enter and win. I will announce the winner on Friday, July 27th

Hi all! How are you all doing on this lovely Wednesday? I’m doing well. I’ve been noticing these gorgeous dipped leg pieces for the past year or so. They are super stylish, and an easy way to freshen up an existing piece of furniture. All you need is some paint, painters tape, brushes, and you’re good to go.
Hey Guys! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was really calm and easy, just the way I like it. Saturday we didn’t do much at all, tee-ball, gymnastics, blah, blah, blah. Sunday we went to the beach, and that was all she wrote…my kind of weekend. Whilst at the beach under my umbrella, it dawned on me, the summer is finally here. Everything is lighter and brighter and our homes should reflect that. This is coming from a woman with a charcoal grey sofa and dark wood furniture everywhere. LOL! Believe it or not, even my living room can be transformed for the season.
The view from my beach chair was a huge source of inspiration. The pale yellow of the sun-bleached umbrellas, add a relaxed contrast to the blues of the sky, and the ocean. Hints of white and sand rounded out this beautiful scene.
Just off the beach is the hotel at Tuckers Point, one of my favorite places to go on the weekend. This breezy patio, with its view of the water is a great source for a summertime color scheme. The dark cedar doors, the white and beige hues of the limestone, mixed with the blues of the ocean, are the perfect summer palette. These subtle tones and many others can be used to quickly and inexpensively, transform your home for the season.
Pillows, decorative accents, and area rugs are an easy way to change the mood of any room from winter to summer. Here are a few of my online finds to get your summer decorating started.
