Hi all. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Guess what? Justin Timberlake and Interior Designer/Stylist Estee Stanley are launching their new affordable home furnishings line HomeMint. Justin and Estee curate the pieces; I love how the new catch phrase for an online store is “curated”. It makes it seem as if they are searching the planet from continent to continent to find the most rustic hand made treasures. I’m imagining a random tribe in Papua New Guinea (or some other far off place) weaving blankets by hand. I digress, HomeMint seems very interesting, not to mention the artisanal component, which I think, makes it more appealing. I’m so intrigued by the whole thing but strictly from a marketing standpoint. Pair a celebrity with anyone; in this case an interior designer and you’ve pretty much have got a home run.
Some people scoff at this kind of thing but I’m OK with it because it makes you want to work harder as a designer to get your name out there; and why not? After all, I curate Design Pretty. If I only had a celebrity, I’d be rich!!! LOL The social media component of the brand launch is absolute genius in my mind. Before the site even launches they are having you sign up through Facebook and if you refer friends you get a discount. Don’t be surprised if you see that marketing strategy duplicated by one Oneka Benn Schwartz, Designer and Owner of Design Pretty in desperate need of a celebrity to co-curate. I should post that on Craigslist and see what it gets me. On second thought, I should not. LOL. Here are a few pictures of what HomeMint will be offering.
Lollipop Stackable Stools $750.00 for a member, yes there is a membership but you can purchase as a non-member for $1000.00. I don’t know if I love this membership idea:-/
Moroccan antique rug and hand knotted Turkish rug. The solid rug runs from $1600 to $2160. I’m sorry did they say affordable?
New Wave by Sage Vaughn $150.00 for members and $200.00 for non-members. OK, that’s what I would consider affordable. Well only time will tell if we are going to buy, buy, buy, what Justin is selling. I’m sorry I couldn’t resist the pun. LOL!
Is HomeMint going to be ‘N Sync with the market or am I going to “cry me a river” over the prices. I can’t stop being so punny…I can do this all day. LOL OK I’m done. I promise.
